Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New ZealandKnox Church belongs to the wider national body of the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand (PCANZ).

As such its goals are:

  • To teach Christ as the only Saviour
  • To teach God’s Word (the Bible) in all its fullness and depth
  • To seek to reach lost men and women with the hope that they too will come to know the joy of being right with God
  • To try to identify peoples’ gifts and give them opportunity to serve God in and through the church

Our faith finds its focus in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ

Our faith finds its focus in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ

  • To try to reach out to our whole community with the love and compassion of Christ. Showing the love and help Christ would give if He were here.

At Knox Church we believe the Bible to be God’s inspired word and all that is necessary for our faith and teaching. In addition to the Bible the PCANZ has adopted nine documents that help crystallise the fundamentals of our faith as found in Scripture:

  • The Apostles Creed
  • The Nicene Creed (381)
  • The Westminster Confession (1646)
  • The Shorter Catechism (1647)
  • The Larger Catechism (1648)
  • The Barmen Declaration (1934)
  • The Faith we Affirm Together (1968)
  • A Simple Contemporary Statement of Faith (1969)
  • An Affirmation of Faith (1993)
  • Kupu Whakapono (2010)

These can be read on the PCANZ website.
